Valuations

Illustrated written valuations for the purpose of Insurance, Probate, Capital gains or family separation can be arranged at a cost of £80 per hour + VAT.
Auction estimates and valuations are provided free of charge at our offices. In the first instance please telephone us or email / send photographs for initial appraisal.

Diamond And Gemstone Identification, Appraisal And Certification

We offer a full range of Diamond and Gemstone appraisal using our own gemmologists, who will be happy to provide free verbal auction estimates. Written valuations for the purpose of insurance, probate or family separation are charged at £80 per hour. In some cases, particularly if you are selling a diamond over 1 carat in weight, we may recommend that a certificate be obtained from a reputable gemmological laboratory. We will advise the best course of action in each individual case and obtain certificates on your behalf if required. The cost of certification depends upon the stone being examined and the type of certificate required.

Private Treaty Sales

In the event that you have goods for sale, Hampstead Auctions will advise you as to the most effective method of selling the item in accordance with your requirements. Factors such as price, speed of sale, and privacy will determine the most appropriate method for each individual client. Items submitted for sale by private treaty will be identified, valued and marketed in order to achieve an agreed price. Private treaty sales will normally take longer to finalise than auction sales.

Alerts

Please contact us by email or telephone if you would like to be notified of items of specific interest, which may appear in our sales or be offered for sale by private treaty. Your email should include keywords, which can be used to identify items within your specific area of interest. For example, a collector of antique buttons should ask to be alerted to lots including the word “buttons”. Each catalogue and private treaty sale is searched for keywords matching our database of buyers’ requests. Alerts will be sent out by email.

We hold an extensive national and international database of dealers, private collectors, retailers and auctioneers. If you are seeking a particularly rare or specific item we may be able to help you to locate it. Your details will also be added to our alerts and private treaty databases, ensuring instant notification should the item you are seeking appear in our salerooms.
